
In early May I planted a few different types of seeds, one of which came from a Horti sachet labelled Dahlia 'Redskin'. Today, almost three months later, we've got blooms! These are dwarf cultivars and bloom on relatively small plants in full sun.

Both plants make similar coloured flowers but this one with the gold centre has petals of a slighter brighter hue. I personally prefer the one with denser petals and a less pronounced yellow centre.

The Dahlias get the sunniest location I can afford! Been feeding these guys heavily too. I'm not sure if my flowers are smaller than what is expected of this plant. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied and I think they are still reasonably sized considering the climate and growing conditions. There are plenty of buds developing so I'm hoping to enjoy more blooms from these babies. I think it was a good idea to try out the Dahlias; they turned out to be quite pretty. What do you think?
