Tropical Daffodil

The nodding habit of Eucharis formosa. Formosa refers to the old name for Taiwan.

I'm finally reaping the reward of a single seed I planted in September 2008. The pure white flowers of Eucharis formosa have a distinct cup in their centers and I personally think they resemble daffodils. They are sometimes called Amazon Lilies but that name is usually reserved for Eucharis grandiflora, which is a stunning plant with flowers twice the size of Eucharis formosa.


Here's a look at the little cup within the flower.
